Butman Township Ordinance No. 30

 Article 1

General Provisions

 SECTION 1.2 Purposes

The purpose of this Ordinance is to protect the health, safety and welfare of the people in Butman Township and to provide rules and regulations for the use and construction of sanitary sewer facilities installed, or hereafter installed, altered or repaired with that portion of the township known generally as Sugar Springs Development…….

 SECTION 1.6 definitions

Building- means any structure containing sanitary facilities.

 Article II

Use of public sewers required at Sugar Springs

 Section 2.1 Disposal of Wastes

It shall be unlawful for any person to place, deposit or permit to be deposited in any unsanitary manner upon public or private property, any human or animal excrement, garbage, or other objectionable waste which ordinarily would be regarded as sewage or industrial waste.

 Section 2.5 Sewer Required

The Owner of any building located within Sugar Springs or abutting on any street in which there is now located or may in the future be located a public sewer, is hereby required at Owner’s expense to connect said building directly with the public sewer in accordance with the provisions of this Ordinance, with ninety (90) days after date of official notice to do so, provided that said public sewer is within one hundred (100) feet of the property line within which the building is situated.

Gladwin County Zoning Ordinance:
 Section 3:  Recreational Vehicle (RV) Recreational Vehicles may be uses as dwellings if they are placed on property owned by the resident of the RV and if they are not kept on the property more than (6 months) each calendar year.  Regulations for RV’s outside of campgrounds in preexisting developments with adopted deed restrictions at the time of this ordinance are exempt from the 6 month limit (if extended by special provision of the P.O.A).  No RV may be rented to another party or occupied by another party other than the owner of the land on which the RV is placed.  During the period when the RV is placed on the owner’s property, it must be hooked to (an approved) well and septic or sewer system located on the same property unless other disposal facilities are available with a platted development.

  • Sugar Springs is not zoned as a Campground
  • Sugar Springs does have a disposal facility at the campground.
  • Township Ordinance verses Zoning Ordinance- most restrictive supersedes  
Sugar Springs by-Laws State
All residences shall be connected to the sanitary sewer when it becomes available.

  • Property cannot not be used as equity for a loan.
  • No personal loans going out at this time.
Brian Owens- Manager of DPW
  • Not able to monitor illegal dumping.  Has found multiple sites dumping.
Health Department Sanitarian
  • Agrees that hooking up to sewer is the safest think to protect the wells and lakes.
